I did the beech stock on my annie .22lr and it came out a pale colour https://www.dropbox.com/s/weqvktpw15...00658.jpg?dl=0

Im planning to strip the tru-oil off and possibly stain it first or get pre tinted oil finish and o it again. i have a Hw99 to do also.

This HW80k was done for me by a friend and i'm sure it was done with bri-wax and nothing else . Its my nephews rifle and i have not seen it since 2010 or so ,so i'm not sure what it looks like now.

Hi Paul, Did you meant the Original 45 stock? If so, Willies kit came with water based walnut stain, A single coat will darken the wood slightly but the more coats equals a darker finish, I think I gave that stock a couple of coats, I refinished two sets of shotgun stocks far two workmates, One wanted a very dark colour, It came out almost black, My other mat saw it and he wanted the same!!

By the way, It was Tung based oil I used, I've not used Truoil

Both Shotties were Investarm, This one came out very dark!, It only had four or five rubs of oil..

This one for some reason didn't come out as dark!

I think they would have looked a bit better with a few more rubs of oil..

Hi John . yes the original 45 (2nd and 3rd pics) although the darker ones ones in your post above look good.

    That one
I refinished the Annie stock as i fell and scratched the stock .
I spoke to a few wood workers and they recommended a few finishes .

I was tempted to use a green one
    A bit like this one

but prefer it darker like this one ,The green one

    from a post on here . http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread....ck-refinished-)

I do like the almost black one you posted a pic of though .

Am i right in thinking the best way to remove tru-oil is Acetone ?
    Thanks for the reply John
