    Cerakote

Anyone had a Hw77k cerakoted? Would you recommend it?

Advice on who might do it and cost would be appreciated.

Speak with RichardH, he’s done an 80 before now.
The toxicity of lead varies, depending upon the weight of its doseage and its velocity!

Try Geoff at Liquid Steel Designs.
His work is excellent and reasonable.

yup. I think it's a great finish for guns with some pitting / damage, and "hard working" guns too. Going to get my motley 80 done by Rich sometime this year - will try to drop it off at / en route to Mick's springer bash.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Cerakote www.cerakote.com is a brilliant finish for guns

While I blue hundreds of guns, Cerakote is much more resilient for field guns we do loads of powder burners for stalking or foxing

Doesn't seem to have the same takeup for airguns which is odd?

Have a look at the test data, its almost bulletproof

    Thanks for the responses, chaps.

I like the look of it and it future proofs the underlever especially from discolouration.

On a 77, the detent unit is a PITA to remove without damaging stuff. Can cerakoting be done with it in situ?

Again, how do costs compare with a reblue?

Last time I had a 77 blued. The catch block was removed, the knurling was smoothed off a little with emery strip, which made the catch block was a nice snug fit, so tapping back on was avoided.

Prior to bluing, I drilled and threaded two holes for tiny grub screws in the U channel of the catch block to nip onto the barrel.
Quite handy this way, as I can chop and change between the catch block or the V tech silencer on my 77.

Best to just replace the detente but can be done in situ.

Its a bit more expensive than a decent reblue but not much.

Hard contact will wear anything, after all the steel wears eventually, Cerakote is more resilient than bluing though
