What year?

I had a look at a old HW35 last week, It had two arrester holes , rounded heel on the pistol grip , leaf spring
rear sight and safety catch .

Not sure of barrel length but could be 22", was told it was 1964 but I think it is later so when did HW first
fit a safety on the rifle ?

If you have the serial number you can pinpoint the year of manufacture etc.

If I recall correctly, the single-sided safety was introduced around 1970, and the double-sided type that persists to this day around 1977.

It's not impossible that you might have a slightly later action that has been put in an earlier stock.

Pics and serial number would help.

The rifle belongs to a friend of a friend and I only got a quick look at it .

The owner is a bullshitter said his uncle bought it in 1964 and it has sentimental value but judging by the
state of it not much!

I will try and get another look at it with my good glasses and get the serial number as it's bugging me more now .

I got the serial number off the 35 this tea time 865206 and have looked it up on WH data base , 1980 so
nowhere near as old as I was told .

It's always fun when buying secondhand to hear the piles of poop people come up with, and to recoil in horror when they ask top dollar for items that are as rough as a badgers are*
