Just one high-end springer, even if based on an older design but brought bang up to date, would do the trick, methinks.

By the way (and sorry to ramble off at a tangent), I was having a quick look on the BSA site a few days ago. The scope ramp fitted to the new Supersport and Lightnings appears to now be a Gamo (unsurprisingly) type bolt-on affair? Correct?
Certainly looks like they are using the same scope ramp.

Like what's been said on the other thread running at the moment about not much happening with rifles since the 80's, if BSA could bring out another Airsporter with Prosport credentials then that would be the high end slot filled and a little more thought and expenditure spent on the Supersport could elevate it to new heights.

And a new, revamped Challenger, Pete.

Same OD cylinder, but with thicker walls and a 25mm bore. Slight increase in all-up weight but with lighter internals, reducing recoil. A sturdier barrel hinge bolt, along the lines of the HW or LGV. The bolt on scope ramp (or machined dovetail, made easier by the thicker cylinder wall).

I never thought the trigger was too shabby, but a slight re-working would bring it bang up to date. Synthetic top hat and guide and a rear piston bearing would make it truly scrumptious.
THE BOINGER BASH AT QUIGLEY HOLLOW. MAKING GREAT MEMORIES SINCE 15th JUNE, 2013.

Agree apart from the barrel hinge, yes a beefier one but the same style as the Challenger's flush fitting one, I'm not a great lover of the HW "sticky out" style bolt/nut set up.
