    MPL Postal League : Spring/Summer 2018 - Entry Details

    Hello to All,

    MPL Postal League : Spring/Summer 2018 - Entry Details

Many apologies for the late start - I have been exceptionally busy at work

Please send your entry details (with your name and address) to Russ (PhatMan) here on the BBS, either by PM, or by sending an email to bat540308@btopenworld.com.

(Your details are needed so your entry packs can be delivered to the correct address and to make sure you are entered into the correct event and sent the right type of targets)

The cost to enter the competition in each category is still ten (10) pounds (£10.00)

Please send your entry payment to Bob (Zooma), using any of the methods described below.

    1) PayPal : Please use this address:- target@rossmod.co.uk.

I believe that PayPal payments made as 'Gift' do not attract charges.

    2) Bank Transfer : please use sort code 40-38-03. acct no:- 51178296 acct name:- Rossendale Model Car Club.

    3) Good old fashioned cash : if you can call in person or send it safely to us (please ask for postal address from Bob (Zooma)if you prefer this option).

    4) Cheque - please also ask for postal address from and payee informations from Bob (Zooma).

(Note : Air 8 targets and Air 7 targets can also be bought in bulk for less, direct from the NSRA in packs of 3000 (for those that intend to practice a lot) .)

Entry packs can also be collected from us in Rossendale to save postage and delivery charges if you are able (or know anyone) that is able to collect them from us.

Good shooting, and the best of luck

Have fun & a good Sunday

    Best regards

    Russ

    Payment by cheque

    Hi Russ,

Transferring the payment into the Club account is still the preferred method to pay for the MPL entry and payment by PayPal "gift" is good too! Cash can also be paid into the account OK - but cheques are not so easy!

The closure of our local HSBC means that we have to make any payments into our Club account though a post office. Any cheques that are paid in are just put into an envelope and posted off by the PO after they are "paid in" over the counter - and the account is not credited until after the cheque has been "received and processed" by the banks clearance depot it is posted to.

I guess if you have total trust in the GPO then that is OK, but no receipt is given for any cheque that is paid in this way and no responsibility is taken by the PO for the security of the cheques postal flight either! (I have asked about this and was not too impressed by the answer).

I do however still have the Clubs HSBC "paying-in" book so if we can find an HSBC that is still open we can pay cheques into the account in the usual way.

    Bob,

    Ta

Our local Post Office is now open again after a long closure - however, there is talk that it will be closing again soon

A dreadful state of affairs - 'providing a service' seems to have disappeared from Banks, Post Offices etc.

Have fun & a good Sunday

    Best regards

    Russ

    Thanks Russ,

The main street in Rawtenstall where I live is called Bank Street - probably due to the fact that just about every bank had a branch there, and with good reason, as this is a very busy market town that has a lot of small industry that chooses to bank in the Rossendale Valley's principle town.

We still have an unusually large percentage of banks for such a small town - and plenty of building society branches too - but surprisingly the HSBC (previously known as The Midland Bank) have chosen to close their Rawtenstall branch, despite it always being very busy and with a strong turn-over - much to the bewilderment of the staff who have worked in other branches in the region and have reported not being anything like as busy as this one!

TSB built a new bank just a little further up Bank Street not so long ago (!), so there is obviously still a demand for local banking and this would appear to offer absolutely no logic as to why HSBC closed this particular branch.

We had a new Post Office open next to the sorting office in Kay Street not so long ago (this is also always very busy) - again making the HSBC decision to close this particular branch even more difficult to understand as most of the local business needs a local branch to work with and most have chosen to switch their accounts to rival banks.

Somethings just don't make any sense!

Thats right Neil £20 to enter two competitions plus the cost of sending the targets to you (if you are unable to collect them).

If you would like your targets posting to you then send Russ a PM and he can let you know the cost currently inflicted on us (charged) by the GPO to send them to you.

Hi Russ - will you be running a supported rifle class this year?

I still have nowhere to shoot at home at this moment but we have made a 6 yard shooting position for 4 shooters at RMTC and have a couple of entries for this competition (if you are running it) as we have some interest in starting this new (for us) discipline.

We will also be able to shoot supported air rifle at 10 meters by moving the supports back to the 10 meter benches but the 6 yard discipline sounds like fun and would bring a couple of new entries into the MPL.

Following some interest in joining this MPL postal competition from Surrytom I have mentioned it here on this thread to take it back to the top of the page so he and others that may not have seen how to enter will be able to find it more easily.
