Look at the difference that 25 years make.

I like the old one better.

    Ah, them wuz the days!

Great times for me and for those who shared the FT circuit back then. Those who do so now are enjoying themselves and building their own great memories, just like we did.

    Long may it be so.

It does come across as a more organised sport these days on many of the videos. Maybe all the target rifles and target jackets help create that image.

I'm not sure it's actually any better from a shooting point of view. The wind and the misses on the target plates have no respect for what kit is being worn or used. It's still the same old story ... those that can shoot knock down most targets.

Always fascinates me looking at the videos. Look at the trigger techniques of target shooters using a few grands worth of kit.

1993 was about the time I started going to clubs.

I've been involved in amateur sport all my life. The older I get the more convinced I am that it's not a lot to do with performance.

Yes, the old one from 1993 does seem the more 'real' and (imho) the far less contrived and sanitised of the two, but times they do go a-changin' and nostalgia just ain't what it used to be.

Great to see not only our very own TD in the first clip, but also, me Ol' Mucka 'Holly' getting a gong at the end of the opening presentation bit (and bless my soul, he still wears that self-same red fleece to this day, lol ) ...

Hi Lensman57, forgot to ask. Is the setting / club / ground in the first clip from 1993 'Springfield Air Rifle Club' (S.A.R.C.) from when it was located near the fish farm just outside of Ongar, or possibly the ground S.A.R.C. later moved to near Nine Ashes just outside of Ongar (where S.A.R.C. is still situated to this day -- although my money is on it being the fish farm if it is S.A.R.C. due to my memory of the time-line), or is it an early glimpse of ETL near the aptly named town of Grays, as I am sure I recognise the location (but given my age and penchant for cider, it is highly likely that I am quite wrong lol ). Cheers: G.

I wish I knew my friend. The caption says it was in the South East somewhere . Perhaps Terry would remember.

Then my money is still on either S.A.R.C. or E.T.L. Have sent a message to Holly to log-on and come take a look-see, too, so (hopefully) between TD and Holly the ground should be identified (unless that is, like me, they've also been on the cider a little to much since '93 ??? ). Atb: G.

Great Videos-recognised a few faces from the first one-at 14.49 God makes an appearance and then keeps popping up to steal all the precious, shiny things

Is that our own Prone Shooter at 17.24?

Here is another one from the master himself. We all love to see him. A very well presented and explained technique if I may so myself.

Good to see the late great Pat Farey also in there. Taken too soon and sadly missed.

As for the 1993 kit, lots of GC2's with Premier Reticule (Link Arms) Leupold's on top, so over a grand right there...in 93!

Holly says I look smooth in the second video... and he's right, day 2 was my best scoring day.
