I am in a very solem mood as i am about to say farewell to one of my most reverred air rifles, my Beloved SFS Brummie Longbow .177 Cal. !
I am comforted however in the knowledge that it will be going to a good home, or should I say, its rightfull owner ?
In any case, I am content knowing the air rifle will be reverred as befitting its pedigree !

Worry not. Lancelot the Longbow () has his old favorite place in the gun cabinet fully vacated and ready for his much awaited return, I have today bought him a fresh sleeve of AA 4.52s (his favourite fodder), his original gun slip will be back from the dry cleaners, all fluffy and warm by Friday and his old 4-12x42 Gold Crown Nikko scope is sitting on the side, eagerly awaiting being reunited with Lancelot, and if you truly do suffer any separation anxiety, I can always get him to Face-Time you?

    Lancelot ?
Never knew that Gareth. I dont name any of my shooters except a .25 SFS Hw 80 which is called Tachen Panzer or "pocket tank".
Like many of us, I give them "a name" when I miss but I wont print it on here !

Think that's bad, you should see the way I pamper my 1906 Lincoln Jeffries model 'H' shotgun stocked bayonet under-lever rifle, and my 1930s Webley Service. Those two even get bed time stories ... And as for the treatment my Eddie Barber AIRGUNAID SP-5 .20 cal HUNTER gets ???

I always dribbled over a picture of a Gunsport Varminter HW80.

No idea how tuned it was but I had the poster (from AG World or AG) on my wall.

Never seen one second hand so no idea if they were well thought of.

Wow. Lovely blast from the past there, thank you. Yes I remember the pictures, too (like you, never seen one in the flesh), and TOTALLY agree, they looked gorgeous -- proper Airgun porn, then and now.

When they were available my dream springer was an FTS '77. I could never afford it at the time.

I made do with this pair of P-S:

    http://pic100.picturetrail.com:80/VO.../251220125.jpg

One with a B&C/Dave Hill tune (pre-asshole), and the other with a Vortek kit..... and a Paul Short titanium pistoned '97 in a Warren Edwards stock. Still want an FTS though...... any offers?

Thanks to Blackrider, my Favourite Custom Springer is, as of today, now back in my rack. To say I am happy and content would be the understatement of the Century, so as Colonel Melchit once said: thanks Blackie.

My Venum HW77 in a non thumbhole stock is something to behold, but I actually like a V-Match tuned HW95 with its pretty standard factory dark stock. It needs a slimmer moderator, but its still handles like a FWB Sport. For a 12ft/lbs rifle why have all that target rifle weight? So my favourite custom springer is a simple tuned up 95!

I’m inches away from securing Number 3 chameleon that my father bought new from Airmasters but sold it back in 1990
