    Fenman Shoot Test !

I have a really nice early Hyedua stocked .22 Fenman, in fact the stock is an exquisit tiger stripped pattern which Theoben (Custom Stock) occasionally produced.
I've had this rifle for some years now but it has a tendency to behave a "bit like a shotgun" with a 20mm spread at 25m which I'm not too happy with.
The barrel and everything else as far as I can see looks fine but I've recently swapped the original Evo moddy which was a little worn, for a very nice Vortex unit and tomorrow I'm taking the rifle down to the range with a selection of .22 pellets to reasess its ability !
Fun stuff this airgun gunning lark isn't it !

Bought a tin of 5.53 F&TT's which are included in the test tomorrow. They look nice pellets.

You might find that 5.53mm work well. My Fenman was also very accurate with (proper) Eley Wasps. At 5.6mm, they did sap MV/ME though...

Check the power John, with FTT's (mine's preffered diet) it is spot on up to 11.1-ish, get over 11.3 and it's a bag of nails!

Yeah thanks, i have 5.5 and 5.6 Eley Wasps plus Vintage 5.6 Defiants which may or may not shoot well.
I have a sort of feeling that the very slightly larger caliber could perform !

I had strange accuracy with my .177 Fenman, I could put 3-4 pellets in a nice cluster and then 2 would group about an inch off the original group and the following shots would then group in the original cluster, very strange.

    Pete
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

Had similar issues with other guns Pete but this one seems to put out a uniform loose pattern around the zero. Looking forward to tomorrow really as its been a while since I put this rifle through its paces.
