    Interesting Notice?

On a small ads card outside our village post office this afternoon -

    "AIRGUN LICENSING

Have you got an old airgun that you no longer use and you don't want to go through the hassle of licensing it? I will buy it off you. Contact .."

Does he know something we don't?

    And offer him our B2s for a non-negotiable £200.

Come on, surely we all have a B2 (or similar) bought on the basis that (a) it was only twenty quid, (b) it might be interesting, (c) it's an actual gun, for twenty quid, (d) we thought maybe we could tune it and make it not rubbish, and then either couldn't really be bothered, or tried and discovered it was only a tiny bit less rubbish.

I may in addition have seven-tenths of a Crosman 2240 in bits that I'd be happy to sell him for £100, and most of a knackered Diana 6G, also handily pre-disassembled, at a similar price point. Ought to make him very happy.

The same ad's appeared in the free ad's when they announced the scottish airgun license . They went along the lines of " £10 for a pistol and £20 for a rifle If you hand them in you will get nothing from the police , so make few quid and sell them to me "

As said above they are scaremongering and chancing their luck.

According to a mate of mine, a similar notice has popped up in the local greengrocers Yet to verify this myself, as to whether it mentions licensing.

I have to agree they are chancing their luck and scaremongering a bit, but nevertheless what is quoted above was indeed true. I am sure quite a few people who handed guns into the police would have rather had something than nothing.

If you have the gas tube, valve and front cap I would happily take them off your hands (hopefully for less than £100...)
    Good deals with these members

Yes, I was interested in it at £200. When I had a chat to him he said he had been told it wasn't worth much so was going to take less than £150 for it. I told him the stock was probably worth that because it was a left handed SR. I think after that he sent the serial number to air arms to get confirmation of what it was.

I wasn't interested because he said it was a .22. However it turned out to be a .177 which is what I really wanted. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything

'Orrible little chancer, just trying his luck

If it came to air gun licencing and I had no chance of getting one, I'd rather throw all of mine in a lake than sell to someone like that or hand them in to the police.

    All of the above.

How about handing them to existing airgun clubs? Maybe they could use them as club guns for people without a license to rent for a nominal fee etc
