New Webley Service

One was shown on the Vintage American Airgun forum about five years ago, John.

The gun was a near perfect copy of the MK2 service except it had a plastic stock.

I'll do a search later to see if I can find the thread.

That's a new one on me. Doesn't look like it has a peep sight but then I can't see one on the 'new' Service either. I shall be at the show tomorrow and try to find out a little more about this project.

Edit: I can now see from other posts that a horrible plastic looking optic has been fitted, which goes against the principle of the original. Paul O'Donnell makes some incredibly good replica 3rd series peep sights and I'd rather see one of these on the rifle than some modern optic.

Yes, can't see any opens on it at all - let's hope that's because this is a prototype/show gun and not the finished product!

An interesting concept but it has a lot to live up to as the original is legendary.

It's a prototype so I hope the rear sight is still under discussion. It is by far the most exciting new air rifle I've seen in years. I will buy one if and when they make them.

I just hope they get rid of that really annoying round headed screw behind the trigger

l am not sure if this as been mentioned before, just had a phone call from my son who is at the NEC show. he as been talking to the guys at the Sterling arms stand and they have told him they are going to make a version of the Webley Service, but it will be made from stainless steel and with a bigger cylinder to get the power up. has anybody heard about this?.

Now that l have seen it. it will never beat the original one . and l forgot the say he told me the price would be around £900

Now if they'd made an updated version of the Bonehill Britania with a HW80 sized cylinder, adjustable stock, match trigger and a scope rail, that would have been exciting.

yeah, agreed... I've posted on here before about what a great format for a gun that Bonehill is. I think a "hammer" trigger design should work (like the scorpion), that way the actaul mech itself remains self contained and nicely adjustable, and the hammer impacts the main sear that stays attached to the cylinder. Cylinder bore was around 27.5mm, with loads of spring room, so all it needs is a it more stroke, and a shorter port.

We are currently gathering public feedback on the rifles, any changes that need to be made will be made prior to going into production, which all being well with no modifications will be imminent!!
