    Theoben GP .177

Newly acquired Theoben thumbhole Grand Prix Sirroco in.177. Two owners. First Mr G Taylor who was president of a shooting club in central Scotland. Serial number TB4093. Trying to peace together some information for my own file. Does anyone know what date that would correspond to? Any info to share would be appreciated.

Completely new new to the Theoben Range. Trigger has an almost imperceptible second stage breaking point. Does anyone have annidiota guide to increasing second stage and decreasing first (based on the model of trigger on this particular rifle). Although it arrived in its original box with the original pump there were no instructions!

Jon. Just popping out but quick photo reveals a hex bolt on the upper front section of the trigger. Is that what you’re referring to? https://imgur.com/gallery/B81IS

Does anyone have any idea on what bolt does what?
Would like a rough idea before I start fiddling.

sorry Geoff, the one I was thinking was the latter trigger on the Evo. I can't remember how my long departed GP trigger adjusted

    Trigger adjustment

Had fun with mine too! Eventually found this on bbs and also a tip to only turn ⅛ of a turn at a time. Now very happy.

Turn screw clockwise for heavier second stage, however if the adjustment has been reset incorrectly this may not be the case, at this point you have to get back to a base setting which does seem to confuse most people.
It may also need some work other than adjustment as it could be as much as 15 years old.

    Trigger

Hi Geoff, yes mine has a single Allen screw in the front of the trigger and a push forward to release safety catch inside the trigger guard. Airgun forum confirms landymicks date of 1987. Enjoy! David

Right then i will start with clockwise rotation of said hex bolt and will go canny as they say. Mine is the version with the pull down safety in front of the trigger guard. Same as the one on the John Walters Airgun book vol 4. BTW the serial number is hand scratched in, is yours?

Hi the trigger on your gun is not the Evo trigger, I believe it is based on the Webley omega design. A Google may reveal how to adjust. I had a Countryman with the same trigger and they can be made very nice. Atb Max

agreed, defo not Evo, but the countryman has the safety inside the guard - well mine does. This is the pull down / outside the guard safety. Also the omega trigger is the type fitted to the SLR88 - different again!
