Hi Baz,
I believe it is a Haenel (probably a model IV or IVE) - I'm sure someone will come along with more info. But I'm sure that is the later Haenel trade mark.

I mentioned on my previous BSA thread that we picked up another one at the rubbish tip for £30. Well I decided to refinish it in G96 cold blue this weekend, started to clean up the trigger block and saw it was not a BSA. What is it please ? Believe or not it is doing 6.9 ft.lb. as it is now with a few broken parts.

Yes that is a Haenel Modell IV and it should say so on top of the cylinder.
Month and Year of manufacture should be underneath the cockinglever, on the barrel.

Hi Baz, it is a Haenel. l have one with the same stamping on the trigger block, mine has Haenel model lVE stamped on top of the cylinder. just as good build wise as a BSA.
Nice find

Hi All,
There is some info here: http://forum.vintageairgunsgallery.c...miscellaneous/
I think that the style of stock that yours has makes it the IVE (E for Export) model. You will see from the catalogue put up by Garvin that the domestically available German IV had a different type of stock.
I think the Export version of the stock was deliberately to make it resemble the BSA competitor and make it more appealing for the British market.
Cheers

Thanks for the info everyone, the rifle has a heavy coat of rust so nothing visible on the cylinder. Had a busy day at church today so will get into re-finishing tomorrow to see if any markings appear. Also have to make a new tap cover and bits for the back sight.

I have one if you need a pattern for the bits
Thanks Andy, needed some detail pics of cocking lever release button, but found them on Danny's excellent site. The tap cover plate I have the dimensions for.

I had one.
Good condition.
It shot 6 inches high at 25 yards.
Peter bought it from me.
I don’t know if he was able to bring it down.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
I am a tad jealous, there is never anything like this at my local tip
