    BSA R10 query again

Can anyone say what depth the power adjuster is on their R10 please? This one is Mk1 with original reg.
Just curious 'cos, worryingly, I seem to be getting interested in the "work of the devil" at the mo'
    Thanks for looking

The depth of the power adjuster is not the same between any two rifles. To adjust an R10 (and most other regulated rifles) first you need to set the reg to the correct pressure for calibre and barrel length. The power adjuster is then used to get you to 11.something FtLb M.E. No two rifles with identical barrels will have identical depths of the power adjuster screw collar due to differences in maufacturing tolerances, e.g. hammer spring rate etc.
If you have a second hand gun there is no telling if a previous owner hay have changed hammer spring or hammer unless you measure or compare with the standard parts.

Thanks again Rancidtom for full informative response. I get that OK but in your experience would +/- in manufacture for such things alter adjuster position a lot? Looks very fine pitch. Just mind rambling 'cos thought it could indicate state of reg. pressure all other things being similar.
