It's not what suits the rifle that matters, It's what suits your eyes.

Different manufacturers use different lenses & lens coatings, what suits the bloke next to you might not suit you, so with scopes you really need to "try before you buy".

There are also a lot of different reticles (cross hair), some people like the basic "+" others like "mil-dots" for the extra aim/ranging points or "xmas tree" like the Hawke "AMX" or MTC's "SCB".

If you're in a club ask a few people if you can try their scope, & as you're a novice joining a club will be a huge benefit in learning both safety & shooting techniques anyway, also go to your local RFD try a good range including stuff the next price band up & you might decide to buy a cheap used scope to start, while you save for something much better.

Have a look for a Nikko Sterling Panamax 3-9x50AO half mil dot. Nice clear glas and easily obtainable within the budget.
You can spend thousands and still miss a barn door or spend just enough and enjoy yourself. If you haven't got the talent to start with a million pound won't fix it. Whippet, Russell, a few bang sticks and a flat cap. http://www.smart-tech1st.co.uk
