What is the worst fault that you have seen on a springer

Even the best can have faults, some are common and some are very rare and some we just put up with because we like the gun, sometimes old is better and sometimes new. But what is the worst that you have seen

Here is a few of our favourites we make excuses for LOL

Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

Not sure if this is applicable ... are you looking for problems?
Ok .. bought a BSA standard at an antiques fair several years ago. Got home, stripped it down, just in case, and found there was no piston head. Oh dear.
Ok .. bought a nearly new rifle at auction for a bit of fun, maybe a Westlake (don't laugh please). At home, performance was awful on first shot so I stopped and stripped it. I found the piston head detached and stuck in the cylinder. Screw thread had stripped. My guess is that it had come loose, been fired and the thread stripped on the securing bolt. Oh dear ... easily fixed but should not have happened.
Daughter bought a brand new Diana 46 stutzen, performance was poor. Noted breech seal was missing. Was sent another one but it tended to fall out as it was a poor fit. Complained about it; told 'Yes they all do that'. I fitted a better O ring that fitted.
    Cheers, Phil

HW 95 (both bought new but 3 years between purchases).

    1) Springs finished by ape with angle grinder, not even flat, like a corkscrew at each end.
    2) Internal grease full of swarf, possibly caused by 1.
    3) Buzzed like a swarm of bees in a tinfoil factory, caused by 1.

Hw80 bought from a shop called vandenburgers in the 80's. Couldn't really test in shop. Trigger engagement had Ben mesed with and would go off at random. Barrel bent sideways.

Mind you, took it home and returned it just wrapped in plasic bags on a mixture of tubes and buses. Doubt if you could do that now!
