Weren't they black? I remember the adverts/reviews for the air shotguns well. They did a three way comparison in one edition iirc. It was claimed it was good for game at "normal airgun ranges", a claim I now doubt, but given the infestation of rats around the hatching sheds where I was working in Marden, I kept thinking how awesome it would be!

I had a fox. Bought it mid 90's for coppers. Came in the wooden box with all the accessories. Spoilt slightly by some dim wit having shot the box.
Very unique but a bit gimmicky.
I also had the safari. Quite a useful little rifle.
Always hankered after the Herald myself. Had my hands on one around 92-93 but just couldn't justify paying what the owner wanted for it.
Stupid legistlation that ruined some very good guns

I had a play with an old barrel today. I have got a little single use air tank that doesn't have any way of attaching a pellet, I have checked with BASC and it doesn't come under the SCGC rule so it's perfectly legal! It works the same way as the Brocock one and uses the same charger, so that's handy, but the pellet is loaded directly into the barrel. It is a tedious process, but the major advantage is I can use it in any style I can think up. It's just got a hand pressure actuator at the moment for testing (10.6 and very quiet with a homemade mod) but I'm now thinking of what I can do design-wise.
Anyone got any ideas or old bits of gun that could be canabalised?[IMG]

Good deals with these members
You can't fit an ordinary stock to this, it needs to be a bit of bent rod like the Fox or a rod with a ball on the end to fit comfortably in the shoulder. I made .22 R.F. rifles like this in Africa. My favourite was built on the body of the Webley single shot .22 R.F. target pistol.

....That's not a bad idea at all. If I understand the pics posted up, maybe you could have a loading mechanism like the 'covert cane' (hope the link works) with a twist and pull back to reveal the end of the barrel for loading a pellet, and 'breech' to drop the single use air tank inline behind? I think that is still legal in the context that the 'Brocock' cartridge (which held the pellet) was originally banned, and clearly too long to be a pistol if you wanted to have something up to 12ft lbs, plus would be (legally) carried unloaded until made ready for use.
...though not quite sure what you could use it for.

Anyway - sterling stuff Mr T. And would really like to know more on the 'Derringer' clone project.
not sure if you know http://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/159...walking_stick/
RETIRED gamekeeper Raymond Arthur Evans’ passion for historic guns landed him in hot water.
The 70-year-old hoarder, who had more than 20 weapons in a locked bedroom at his home, faced the prospect of a minimum five-year statutory prison sentence after he admitted he had a gun disguised as a walking stick.
Evans bought it legally in the 1960s but the law had changed and the Harper air cane was now a prohibited weapon.

He admitted possessing an air cartridge firearm in October last year, a walking cane air rifle, without the consent of The Secretary of State.
Not sure if you can get an FAC for one now as they may have been classed as the BAC brocock's and had to be licensed in 2004 .
