    Ben Taylor & Son

    Btas
I have an early Fac btas fx cyclone that has served me well for many years.
The hammer Spring snapped on it recently and it turns out to be a non oem part. In fact the Spring, hammer and adjuster are all modified parts.
Btas webpage gives the number tel:01223 20872655
This number has been reallocated to a very grumpy person!
Can anyone tell me how to contact btas?

    Ben has Retired .

    From another forum

I contacted Ben Taylor today about doing some work on a very early Theoben Sirocco that I have only to receive an email back saying that "As of today I'm retiring, need to make time for other things"
It's a shame but I can't blame him. So all the best in your retirement Ben. :thumb:

    That post was from 2014.

So no different from when it was Theobens phone number then

I was under the impression that RAW (Rapid Air Weapons) had some original Theoben parts as they inherited the factory, though I could be wrong.

Do you mean Impact airguns? RAW is in the US and if it was something Ben did after the sale of Theoben ,Then neither Impact or RAW would have had any dealing'swith it as its not a Theoben type rifle the OP has . Or I may be wrong

    From the OP

Ah you know what, I didn't even see the 'fx cyclone bit'.

Get in touch with FX then, would be the best bet.

FWIW I'm sure Impact or RAW has/had access to some OEM Theoben parts.

Impact does have parts but they are hard to get a hold of . Loads of people reporting this . They seem to be active on Facebook though .

Have a chat to Simon @ the airgun doctor.

He has done a bit of works with btas modified rifles from what I hear, so he may be able to assist you.

    Thanks for the replies.
I have been in touch with FX. It was they that pointed out that hammer, Spring and adjuster/guide were non standard. Hence my wanting to contact BT for a Spring.
Could start to be a problem for other BT modified rifles. I thought that BT merely added his reg and stock and gave it a tweak but the bits stated above are not FX.
Guess I'll have to buy the bits to put it back to standard.
The reg has already been replaced with Lane one anyway 👍

He allegedly serviced a rifle for me and it was returned worse than it was sent.

Bits missing and when a gun smith stripped to repair, it was full of crap and clear the rifle had not been worked on at all.

I wouldn't touch this professional for all the tea in china.

I had the same from another 'gunsmith'. That's why I do all my own work now, wherever possible.

Another gunsmith (popular on the forums) basically stole the parts I sent to him to modify, which is why I am also loath to send parts to fix or mod.

Thanks for this....I had a convo with him this morning about a leak that has developed on my new to me HW100 btas. It was serviced in early March.

Thankfully I know how to fix hw100's

So what are his contact details? See op.
I'm sure those that bought into the BT dream are starting to have issues and would like to contact him.
I have gone back to standard components and with a lane reg am getting 85 shots at 22ft/lb with deviation of 6fps so now wonder what all the BT hype was about. I also had a BT service done some years ago and thought it was expensive for what little appeared to have been done.
I stripped it right down myself in the end. Works well now 🙄

Aye, I have done the same now.
Leaking cylinder, o rings not changed, grease in the hammer assembly.
    Done properly now by me

BTAS have closed which, from a customer service perspective, can only be a good thing.

I sent the leaking regulator for my ''Taylored'' FAC mk1 Rapid to him as it was letting by. I saw the O ring was perished before I sent it (cause of the let by?) and pointed it out to him; it returned to me with the same leak, the O ring was still the same perished item, and there had been insufficient postage applied to the package, which meant I had to pay the surcharge.

Therefore, not only did BTAS take the fee to fix and return it, they actually didn't address the fault, and returned it to me in the same condition as I sent it, and it cost me a few quid to pay to have the Post Office hand it over.
I would never recommend BTAS, or Ben for that matter. Never have I experienced such terrible attitude and flagrant disregard for customer satisfaction.

In the end KevG said he'd sort it for me. It was fixed at no charge, and I was returned in 2 days.

It's funny how Baz used run KevG down as being a monkey, whilst selling his mate, Ben, as the man to see for all things rapid, but in my experience Ben was the monkey and Kev's still the go-to guy.
