Supported Air Rifle Shooting at RMTC.

Rossendale Model Target Club is actively promoting the Supported Air Rifle Shooting discipline and has already allocated a time slot for this purpose.

SARS has started at RMTC with a 6 yard MPL style series to give a nice start to the new discipline and we are already considering how best to include this actively at 10 meters at a later date.

This 6 yard slot also gives the opportunity to shoot non-supported 6 yard air pistol and rifle as well as bell target shooting too and is a pleasant nod to the traditional British shooting distance.

6 yard SARS is proving to be a very popular and relaxed event that is not as easy as it may seem and it is giving everyone the chance to get used to the format and adapting their rifles to fit the ISSF discipline requirements before moving to the international 10 meters distance.

Supported Air Pistol Shooting may well follow soon too, but for now we have been making the stands and bar supports and adapting our air rifles to the ISSF rules standard at the lowest possible price whilst maintaining the ability to convert them back to standard specification quickly and with no damage or marking to the rifles.

The revised RMTC shooting times are now as follows:-

Tuesday:- 7pm - 8.30pm. 10 meter air rifle and pistol shooting. 8.30pm - 10 pm. Reserved for 6 yard shooting including SARS.

Thursday:- 7pm - 10pm. 10 meter air rifle and pistol shooting.

We would be pleased to hear from anyone who has an interest in SARS who may like to arrange a visit to see how we have adapted to accommodate this "new to the UK" discipline as it would be good to encourage others to "have a go" too!

As we have a reserved 6 yard slot on Tuesday evenings from 8.30 - 10pm we can also accommodate MPL shooting with classic spring powered and SSP air pistol and rifles.

We have a strong interest in classic airguns in our club and so this is a perfect opportunity to exercise them at the traditional British 6 yard shooting distance, and for those that would like to compete with them in the MPL series this gives a perfect opportunity to do so in a live "shoulder to shoulder" situation.
