Try it with a heavy, cast bullet. Quieter, more consistent and harder to mess up. It is not like you need 300 yard subsonics.

    Subs

    Hi
The only advice I can give is use a heavy for caliber bullet
But with a short bearing surface to aid stability
Seat bullet in case and mark we’re base of bullet is on the neck
THATS YOUR MAXIMUM LOAD USING TRAIL BOSS
I usually do my load testing over a crony to see when subsonic
THEN AND ONLY THEN I put the mod on when I see holes in target not key holes (unstable)
If they are unstable and your using a mod it will destroy it
Good luck and have loads of FUN 😄

On the stability thing, online bullet stability calculators work. If you are having real problems with stability, try a shorter bullet or shooting the bullet with the heavy end forwards (not fmjs with open bases!).

Sir, where do you obtain your 7mm bullets? My 1897 carbine likes the 200gr RN FJM, but they are now unobtainable, and since the bore is .285" and not the usual .284", modern spitzer-shaped bullets come out of it in an apparently random spread, just like a garden hose.

    HI TAC,
I make my own, NOE mould,
some times have a job with gas checks though,
been using 7.62 ali ones which crimp down easily in the lube-sizer,
