Sussex Interclub HFT 2018 - Round 1 Results

    Hi All

And welcome to the first SIHFT Results post of 2018.

BIG thanks to Charles Peal and all of the Mile Oak crew for hosting Round 1. Bit damp underfoot, a little drizzle at times and only the occasional show from a gentle breeze (just enough to prevent a bunch of clear round cards), but I know that everyone who braved (or read about) the mudfest which was the 2018 WHFTA at Kelmarsh just a week ago were relieved not to have that experience replicated.

Well dones go to Charles and Graeme for topping the table with ‘not-quite-nearly-clear’ rounds of 58 apiece. For those stunned by Graeme’s result, please note that he did – for today at least – bring out the PCP in place of his usual boinger.

I’m sure there were other notable performances, but I’ll mention one PB on the part of Swallows FTC's Greg Wilmshurst. Well done Greg; onward and upward

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss.

Lots of the new 2018 badges won today, with no fewer than 21 Golds. Just a shame that our usually very reliable supplier is running a couple of weeks behind schedule. As a result. We had to ask you to hold your breath for a further 2 weeks, when we fully expect to be able to issue today’s badges as well as those won in SIHFT Round 2 at Ford Ranges.

Prize drawer winners today were :
    • Mike Burgess – the £28 cash prize, and
    • Paul Somerville – the Air Arms goody bag

Team scores today and points are:
    Club Round 1 Points
    Oaks 280 12
    Buxted 279 11
    Horsham 270 10
    Ford 261 9
    Meon Valley 260 8
    Swallows 250 7
    Iden Fern 227 6
    Maldon 185 5

Swallows FTC, Iden Fern and MAD all short of a full team today and required lucky-dip cards; Iden & Maldon getting 3 cards (the max allowed) each and Swallows drawing 1. We were not surprised by the lower than typical turnout today, with some still scraping mud from their kit after last weekend and others drawn to other events elsewhere (up north).

If some of the formatting of the above seems less than perfect, there's an ongoing 'battle' between me and the BBS message editing window.

Happy shooting wherever you are until we meet again in two weeks at Ford.

And finally …… however distracted you may be and especially just before leaving the course, do NOT forget to check that your score card shows no sign of a number which been miswritten or changed without having a corresponding signature from a marshal. Simmmmo is watching.

Thanks loads. I know I knew that, but forgot it about 10 seconds later and before I could write it down.

Thanks for pointing this out. Correction to the tables done.

Does impact team scores; increases MVAC's (to 260) and reduces Ford's (to 261), but no change to positions or Round 1 points.

Many thanks Oakies. Great fun ... and the rain held off for the most part. Well done to the top shooters in each class. Amazing!

All the best from the Hawks,

    Phil
