Refurbishing Umarex Walter CP99 - cosmetics

I've got a CP99 to refurbish for a mate; the mechanics are sorted but cosmetically it's poor. The top metalwork won't be a problem but the grip and lower frame are a plastic/composite material which is quite scratched; to be honest it needs a coat of paint of some sort. Just wondering if anyone has successfully applied paint to one of these; if so, what paint and do I need a primer?
Thanks in advance for help here. Dave.

I have successfully aesthetically renovated many a black plastic and/or composite plastic pistol stock, and numerous motorcycle components by removing and giving a good and very liberal polish with Solvo AutoSolve Chrome Cleaner (far less abrasive than T-Cut) ... Have found the end results staggering. Give it a go. Hope this helps? Atb: G.
