    Curious as to what this double number means?

    Think the British empire brought in local district firearms registration in the colonies with their own numbering system. India and South Africa did as well, during times of unrest there. Though I think the American railroads had their own serial numbers - perhaps yours was a vermin control rifle.

    South African import stamps were WB, at least after the War. Not sure about WR.
