    Premier paint

Should a late model Webley Premier have a painted or blued finish to the main action frame?.

It could have either, as Webley changed coatings for the later Premiers.

If its a MKII (1975-77) with the fat body and recesses for printed nameplates then they were always painted frames and blued barrel. They became the Tempest with very little change in construction.
The mk1 should mostly have blued frames and stamped writing as far as I know but there was some mixed transition to paint around 1973 as said above.

The black epoxy paint finish was introduced on the E Series of the Mk1 Premier in about 1973. Early E Series guns are blued.

Oddly, the rare F Series from 1975 or so reverted very briefly to a blued finish.

    Those two used steel frames.

The Mk2 Premier, from 1975 (the "fat body"mentioned above) again had an enamel paint finish.

Random fact: because the "fat body" was alloy rather than steel, the Mk2s (and descendants like the Tempests) are slightly lighter than the more compact earlier ones.
