Did meteors come with walnut stocks?

    Hi all.
Did BSA Meteors ever come with walnut stocks?
I've bought a mk3 which has the most beautifully grained dark wood stock, it looks better than most beech stocks but I wouldn't know how to tell whether a piece of wood is Beech or walnut.
    Thanks.

Mostly all beech but some were made with Mahogany, though very few (sadly), no idea why would guess supply problems. Maybe they were from Sile Italy. The grain will look completely different from the plain ol beech, Mahogany being much more open and less dense than beech. I would guess Mk 3 or 4 mebbe, never seen a super with anything other than beech, but who knows?.
I seem to remember Nick Carter has one on his Airgun blog if you need to compare grain pattern.

The grain on my mk3 does look too impressive to be beech, maybe it's mahogany then? I never realised they used that. Thanks.

Did they do a maple stocked super meteor? Thought a lad at school had one. A picture would be a great help. Max

There's still a photo of one on Protek's site, in the stocks for sale section, although it's since been sold.

There are some walnut stocked Meteors and the odd early Cadet about too.
