Gamo Centre - Alloy Frame Coating?

For those that own or have handled a Gamo Centre, do you know what the correct term is for the black coating on the alloy frame? Just interested to know how that sort of reticulated paint finish was achieved. IIRC, that type of finish was popular on lots of metal items in the 1960s-1970s, probably a carry over previous decades. Seem to recall it was used on radio/electrical cabinets and photography equipment such as large/medium format cameras, tripods etc.

Thanks John, that seems to describe the finish more accuratly, it is a wrinkle effect (as opposed to reticulated which is sort of crackled/segmented). It certainly is a blast from the past for that vintage/retro look!
