    Vintage looking mounts

    What do you use?

Have just bought myself a lovely bunch of gloss scopes to go with some of my seventies and eighties rifles but modern mounts let the ensemble down.

    Any clues?

What you need is gloss mounts made by Ernst Apel Würzburg (EAW) commonly known as Apel mounts.

Hillver also made some nice gloss blued mounts. I had them on a Spartan and they certainly looked the part.

Both will be difficult to the get hold of and expensive...

As above Apel or Hilver. Also, hens teeth but early Parker-Hale look the part although not gloss.

Have you got a link? Have looked at their website and they have tonnes of mounts. The steel ones, not leupold.

    Cheers

    Hillver mounts here, Dave: http://gunshop-eb.com/Hillvermounts.php

I've not used that shop myself, so caveat emptor, but I do have a pair of these:

1" Med 4686N Junior Stainless Finish up to 44mm Objective £24-95
Mine are old ones, in steel, and look exactly the same as pictured... mine came boxed as "Tasco World Class" mounts, but they're stamped "HILLVER" underneath.

The black ones from that shop look cheap @ £15.

The £15 Hillvers aren’t airgun mounts.

They are just rings, you also need the base unit listed below it for the appropriate firearm and you screw them to the gun.

    They aren’t dovetail fitting.

Apologies if you already knew this

    Ah sorry

The first ones are separate rings and bases.

    Those would be fine...

    Good find
