    HW45 with rifle stock

Some people reckon this pistol is not pleasant to shoot with a stock attached. I'm talking about the one specially designed for the HW45. Weihrauch don't actually make it any more but a replica is available and sold in Germany.

I don't understand why it shouldn't work OK. Please explain if I am wrong.

The indoor range I go to will only allow pistols on the 10m range, but the HW45 has the potential to group pretty well from the bench out to 30 yards. At 20 yards it is certainly very accurate if you master the technique required.

The owners of the range might let me use it on the rifle range if I had a stock on it to turn it into a carbine. It would certainly be no shorter than some of the bullpup pcps I see being used these days. And it has more or less the same power as a HW30s.

    What do you reckon?

I have one fitted on my 45 and love it! I'm unsure whether its a cut down original or a new copy, either way the reach is good and it's perfectly capable for bell target. It does need the front sight extension if you're going to use iron sights though.

I have an original and while it looks great, I'm not convinced it shoots any more accurately than a standard HW45 used in the conventional manner. That's because the rearsight is almost next to your eye and can be very hard to line up with the foresight.

The larger foresight the stock also came with is essential in my view as it helps with sight acquisition in view of the sights being that much closer to your eye. You could fit an optic I suppose but I prefer the clean lines of an open sighted HW45.

I picked a .20 one up at Kempton last time that is fitted with the stock, unfortunately it doesn’t have the foresight bit, any idea where to get one?

I would think your best bet would be getting the dimensions from someone who has one and making one (they aren't exactly complicated).
Might be an opportunity to make as a small batch - there must be a lot of stocks out there without them as I've seen quite a few stocks in my time - but only one with an original extension sight.

I have an HW45 with original stock that doesn't have an extension fore sight, so I too would like to get hold of one before I part with it.

I obtained my stock and foresight from Hull Cartridge some years ago - Might be worth trying them and ringing round gun shops in case they have one among their spares.

    Thanks for the replies.

First I've ever heard of an extended front sight for the HW45.

I can't even find a picture of one on google images.

And "Air Pistols" appears to be the only section of the forum where I can't post a pic!

Would anyone with an old original hw45 stock be willing to trace around the the stock and bracket (separately) and post the resulting paper templates to me as I fancy having a crack at making one.
    Cheers Rich.
