8x mag is not enough to rangefind with. FT scopes usually start at 24x mag, and that isn't really enough.

    Bushnell

I used one for short range benchrest, but found the mil dot reticule too large. Have since purchased a sightron mk 2 and find it much better, with ⅛ moa dot. But everyone's eyes are different, try a few before you splash the cash! HTH David

    8-30,or 8-32?

The Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40 is a very well respected FT scope, especially by FT springer shooters. Takes a while to learn their characteristics but the optice are very clear. ot so popular with some because it is a front focus scoperather than sidewheel, and is a duplex, or 30-30 reticle in standard format. I have 2 and they are keepers.

Is this the scope you have?

Bushnell 8-32x40 is a brilliant FT optic, especially on a springer.
I’ve used one for years on my TX as they weigh pretty much half of anything else available (on an already heavy rifle) but with very capable ranging characteristics.
Put on heading 270, assume attack formation

I have 2 8-32x and 1 6-24x. They are very clear and they range well, but they are also extremely tough. The 6-24 has been on a TX/PS at FAC levels for 18 years. Used it in FT for at least 12 years averaging 15,000 to 20,000 shots a year.
