That seems factory standard. If so, there should be one slipwasher inside the piston, to stop the spring end catching on the pointy folded bits of the steel piston sleeve.
Little update on my tatty blonde hw95. I finally had some time to take it apart and it is full of grease even the trigger. Also the spring guide has a metal ring around it as the spring seat and no top hat also no washers in the piston. Is this normal or has it been apart and messed with? Well time to start cleaning it up and fit the tbt kit which arrived very quickly. (Many thanks tinbum)

No slip washer between steel piston sleeve and spring, also the spring is about 3 coils shorter than the new one in the kit.
Slowly getting there with it now it is all degreased and de bured and started to polish the piston ready for the short stroke extension and new seal.
