Condolences to you and your family on your losses.
People who have been there focus on the fundamentals. People who sit at keyboards all day focus on the trivial and inane.

Thank you all so much, as always your messages are greatly received and appreciated.
I only told Sarah this today; when John and I were on building jobs together, he’d make me promise that if anything ‘happened’ and he was left incapacitated in any way, that I do the right thing and let him slip away, as he had a paranoid fear of being left in any state that wasn’t, ‘him’. Which is sadly the state he lived in since the accident, although he (thankfully) wasn’t aware of this due to his mental state.
As his faculties were very slowly recovering, I’ve lived in fear for the past 2.5 years that he’d have a sudden mental recovery whenever we visited and ask me why I’d allowed him to remain in such a state.
Gav nailed it by saying we’ve lost him twice but at least John’s finally at peace - and that’s all we ever wanted for him.

Thanks again lads. Hopefully we’ll all catch up soon.

Craigy, agonizing and incredibly hard. And, in the real World there's nothing you could have done differently. You hoped and prayed and poured love and compassion which is all you could do.

Rest in peace indeed now, John.
