Saturday 30 June saw Davy Thomas and the rest of the crew at The Black Cats HFT Club near Swindon kindly host an inter-club team shoot between them and The Barbarians HFT Club - an event that was the very first competition that The Barbarians had taken part in!

The Black Cats grounds proved to be the idal setting, with the wooded area where the course was set out providing a cooler, shaded setting and some respite from the blazing sun.

With 7 Black Cats members turning out and 8 Barbarians rocking up, it was decided to take the top 5 scores from each team, and tot them up to decide the winner. The course was excellent, with some very cleverly placed targets and just enough breeze to make things interesting.

Once the shoot was over, an ice box full of cold beers and cider was broken open whilst the scores were added up and the usual post-shoot analysis took place.

The final team scores were very, very close, with The Barbarians just managing to get the better of The 'Cats, coming in with 270 points against the home team's score of 268.

The top 5 scores for each team were:

Black Cats: (sorry, no surnames available to me)

Mike: 55

Nathan: 55

Mark: 54

Chaz: 52

Neil: 52

The Barbarians:

Vince Blackman: 56

Coln Medway: 55

Nick Byrne: 54

Steph Elliott: 53

Mike Elliott: 52

Once again, big thanks to Davy and the team for kindly hosting the shoot - and we'd love to come back for a re-match very soon
