    TX200 power reduction advice

A pal of mine has just taken possession of a TX200 which is running too hot. It has obviously been tuned and is very smooth indeed. He is a registered firearms dealer so can deal with the FAC implcations in the short term, but wants to reduce the power and use as a non FAC air rifle (it’s not currently a registered firearm).

Is there a straightforward way to reduce the power by 4ftlbs or so without compromising the tuning? Maybe a non weighted spacer washer or something? I’m quite familiar with tuning in general but have never come across this particular issue myself before.

    Thanks

Take some coils off the spring, redress the end and, put it back together exactly (or as near as) as it was.

    All of the above.

If it has a heavy top hat, remove that... much better than attacking the spring in that situation

As mentioned, if it has the original heavy steel top hat fitted, removing this should reduce preload and the power output. Then use a lighter, synthetic top hat with less spacing. Test power and then reduce spring if required (or source a new, standard, spring). On stripping, it will also be obvious if any extra "power washers" / spacers have been fitted.

Thanks all. Removed the slip washer with him. That alone gave a significant reduction and now comfortably back in the safe zoe.
Just about the easiest gun to work on!

Probably the easiest of all springers to work on!

    Cheers Steve
