Hw98 sleeve/moderator.

Wanted a barrel sleeve / moderator for my 98, this is what I came up with. Apologies if it’s a bit pic heavy.


32mm OD carbon seatpost off fleabay, £13 delivered.



Seat clamp cut off, the Ali was part of it and is bonded in. Drilled out here to about 20mm, this will be the muzzle end.






Made some spacers from Delrin to take up the difference between barrel OD ( ~21.9) to tube ID (~27). Quite a snug fit to the barrel and tube ID.



A couple of these in the overhang of the sleeve. It’s foam from an instrument case.




Breech end of sleeve drilled through 4mm to pick up onto existing sleeve grub screw thread.



Similar at muzzle to hold in end cap, this is Delrin.






Before and after to see if it does anything. I realise phone app db meters are not exactly accurate, it was the difference I was interested in.

Clever and completely reversible... I'm impressed

(Countersunk screws would make a nice finishing touch )

BTW what did you use to remove the white lettering?

60/80/120/320/600/800/1000/1200 grit paper. It had about 1mm of eboxy over it, just sanded it off in the lathe.
