    Correct.

Also liking the “Benjamin Super Steak” on the chart posted above, which I believe is a cousin of the Crosman Nitro Pork.

That's brought the spring down to circa 29 coils, and lost ~40mm of preload, so the piston should receive somewhere in the region of 28 ft. lb., nearer where it needs to be.

Not having any idea of the energy efficiency of the 45, I don't know what the muzzle energy will be.

And yet another excellent article in the new issue of AGW, Jim, concerning the merits of short and stiff vs long and soft springs.

    Excellent result.

Just shoot and enjoy and check the power after a few more hundred shots.

How would you say the action feels in terms of smoothness?

Just to correct a misnomer, the material used for over 90% of piston seals in spring airguns today is polyurethane not PTFE and Teflon which is totally different. Polyurethane is tough and resilient with an excellent memory. PTFE is malleable and can change shape.

I'll post them both to Bruce's thread when I get five.

Sorry to be a pain, Uncle Mick, but if you get the chance it would be lovely to have these on our Brucie's excellent thread.

Hope you're feeling a little less wobbly?

Took delivery Thursday of two vortek 28 mm conversion seals for Diana and others. They appear well made n good quality.
Hope to fit them in an old Original 45 and a 50T01. Both after the leather heads have cone off, drilling n tapping both.
    Fingers crossed.....

    Evening Chris.
Unfortunately the project has stalled a little as whilst the pistons are out of both guns (and currently sitting in a large brown envelope in the kitchen), I've not been able to push on with matters as am awaiting some assistance to machine off the existing heads and drill/tap them to accept the synthetic ones.
As soon as I've pushed on with this I intend to report back results of re assembly of the guns with no other additional work being done to them.so as to try and isolate the benefits of the conversion alone. That said as we all know simply stripping and re assembling a gun will upset the balance of things.
    But we shall see anyhow.
Thanks for taking the interest and hope to report back very soon.

I've just fitted the Vortek seal to my Model 35 after also fitting the TW Chamber ultra tune kit, with the leather washer and Titan no 1 spring fitted as is with no shortening. Initially I'm getting just under 9 ftlbs and it feels pretty smooth. Will give it a try out at the range tomorrow.
