    [QUOTE=PhatMan;7556393]Hello to All,

    Scores updated Friday, 20180831.

A well done also to zooma - two (2) possibles (300 / 300) in the SARS

    Thanks Russ

I shot the August SARS targets with my red alloy framed FWB P70 that I have used for this discipline from the start - Paul ( Bart49) uses exactly the same alloy framed P70 to shoot his SARS targets - but his is blue alloy! This red alloy P70 was the rifle I used to gain my first "possible"in the August competition.

Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to buy another good used P70 - but this one had the very attractive blue/red/green wooden laminated stock. I was thinking about selling this rifle as my alloy P70 was working so well for me, but I decided to make a resting plate to fit under the front of the stock (as per EFRA rules) and also an extended rear sight raiser block (like those used by the wheelchair shooters) to make another good match rifle for SARS.

The idea was to lend it to Mark (X-driver) so he could shoot it in the MPL series as he has had some experience with .22LR rested shooting and I thought it would be interesting for him to join us in the MPL series when he gets back from his holiday next week.

As I was working out how to make the wedge shaped riser block to fit this laminated stock, Paul knocked-up a couple of mounting dovetails to hold it on the stock via the P70's accessory rail so we could get the rifle ready for Mark as soon as possible (many hands etc).

After I had made the resting plate and fitted it (and the raiser blocks) I took the rifle to the club to get it set-up to see if it would perform as well as my regular red alloy P70 and to make sure it worked OK as an SARS rifle before lending it to Mark.

The rifle only needed a couple of clicks on the rear sight and it was absolutely "spot-on" and very enjoyable to shoot, so after just one practice target with 6-7 sighting shots on it I decided to use it for the next round of MPL and shot the next six competition cards immediately.

I had only just scored my first "possible" in the August MPL competition with my regular red alloy P70 and I was absolutely staggered to score my second "possible" with this red/blue/green laminated P70 that I had just converted after only a few set-up shots.

The FWB P70 is a superb rifle for SARS shooting and (as we have now discovered) both the alloy framed P70 and laminated wood stocked P70 are equally good as each other for use in this new discipline - and there are often plenty of good used examples for sale so they are not hard to find.

    Hi Rob,

I have given the MPL rules a "bump" so they are now closer to the top of the "reading list" here for you (and others that have shown an interest recently) to see.

What they may not state clearly, is that you can enter the MPL at any stage of the current series, and you can shoot your monthly targets ( x6 per month) whenever you feel like it -as long as they are all shot before the competition ends. There are two series shot every year, January - June, and July - December.

You would be most welcome to join us as we are hoping to increase the entries and try to re-establish the popularity this series has previously enjoyed!

    Bob.

    No problem Rob,

I dug my HW30S out tonight , paid my entry fee, and shot my first round (July) tonight.

The HW30S is a lovely rifle to shoot - easy to cock and super smooth to shoot.

Shot my first 2 practice cards tonight, scored a 32 on both, so i hope to see an improvement !

Shot using the 30 with falcon domed pellets.
