    The mystery of the Original 6

    Every time I strip one of these the back balance piston seal is like new and the front compression piston seal has disintegrated. The only reason I can think of is that the polyurethane has been affected by hydrolysis or bacterial degradation because of lubricant dropped in through the transfer port. Some new polyurethanes have an additive to counter this.
