Sussex Interclub HFT 2018 - Round 8 Results

    Hi Everyone

Back to Ford and back to ‘real’ weather. Perhaps not quite as windy as we’ve come to expect out on the West Sussex flatland and not as wet as some forecasters predicted, but I was finally able to wear my trusty ol’ shooting jacket again

HUGE thanks to a very small and select group of Fordies who put out a course for us in new places and with lots and lots of targets we’ve not seen before. Who on earth thought up another word target - spelling out “DONUT”?? And that thing with the kill as the epiglottis dangling down at the back of an open mouth Some great work there; I’d certainly lay odds that none of those new ones appeared on Charles’ ranging chart.

As can be seen from the table below, today’s turn-out was unusually low. All on your Summer hols? Or just decided that you were not ready to ‘cope’ with such awful weather? Come on peops. Pack your beach wear away and get ready for something other than blazing heat; there are trophies to be won and your club needs you.

Here is the full set of results …..

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss. BBS PM or email or Facebook message all welcome.

Post Round 8 individual results will appear very soon (NOW HERE). As predicted, there are many moves – up and down.

In spite of a total no less than 22 points below their Round 7 figure, Buxted move another 2 points clear at the top of the team table:

    Club Round 7 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 262 94
    Meon Valley 256 76
    Oaks 252 89
    Ford 237 65
    Swallows 236 59
    Horsham 232 63
    Iden Fern 207 48
    Maldon 151 53

Ford, Horsham, Iden Fern and MAD all required lucky-dip cards today. 1 each for Ford and Horsham, and 3 each for Iden Fern and, yet again, MAD, the latter making up their entire team score.

Prize drawer winners today were :
    • Pat (still on his meds and showing no sign of aggression) Fitzgerald won the £22 cash prize, and
    • Kim Lum took home today’s Air Arms goody bag

There’s now quite a pause in 2018 SIHFT proceeding before we head over to Buxted for the penultimate round (9) on the 30th of September. A reminder BBS thread will be posted a week before that event.

Lots going on in the meantime to keep you busy.

Next weekend (18th and 19th) there is an Open HFT at Horsham on the Sunday as well as 2 rounds of the UKAHFT Nationals at Furnace Mill and Nomads for the travelers among us.

Mile Oak have an Open HFT on Sunday 26th, followed by one of the great events of the year – the Air Arms RN10 at Northall on Sunday 2/9.

Ford and Iden Fern have Open comps on 9/9 and the following weekend 16/9, Buxted host the “Sussex 50”, coinciding with a few absentees heading up north again to help Air Arms at the Midland Game Fair.

And finally, on Sunday the 23rd, there is a UKAHFT round at Cambridge and a further round of the Horsham Summer Open.

In simple terms, there is no excuse for being out of practice. I expect multiple clearances when we get to Buxted for Round 9. But Andy may have something in mind to deter that.

Did we not go a whole round without stopping? I don't recall blowing my Acme Thunderer other than at the start!

    Is that a record?

    Bottled it...

I am surprised, some great scores there.

Looked a bitch of course when we set it.

Glad the new targets were appreciated, have some new ones on the way, if any of the Sussex clubs want an occasional odd bod target making I am happy to help.... That's occasional, not a full course worth😉

Anyway, typing this watching a cracking sunset with the carp rods set for the night - already had 2 twenty pounders and only been at it 4 hours 😁😁

    Hi Steb.

Even with the comment that there was one whistle for a target to be checked, I'm pretty sure that this is a record (lowest) number of stoppages.

    Well done Ford

I started my HFT many years ago at Ford.
Beards and Pat will remember LOL
I think that this was the best course to date , well done again.
Thank you to the 3 of you that set the course,
    Regards Nigel.
