That 'expert' from NABIS who gave 'evidence' at the committee stage of this bill is looking to get a name for himself I reckon.

He LIED TO PARLIAMENT over and over about what people could buy online. He should be sacked and potentially prosecuted.

I wrote my MP detailing this guy's statement, pointing out his obvious lies, in spite of contradictory comments from better informed members of the panel.

So far, I have not received any response.

To make a complaint.
You must get the facts and the only way is to watch and record the programme so you can refer to it in cold blood so to speak, so you might need to play it back a few times.
You must then complain to the BBC in writing or email with the facts you have gathered, no emotional or flippant comments just pure facts, and make sure your facts are accurate and beyond question. (if you don't complain to the BBC first you will not get any response from the regulator OFCOM.)
If you don't get a satisfactory answer from the BBC the next step is now to complain to OFCOM the communications regulator who will investigate your complaint.
The other important thing is for as many people as possible to complain, one or two people complaining has little or no impact, several thousand complaints on the other hand will have a huge impact.

Panorama never has any good news to report- every single edition is death, doom & gloom. I call it 'Paranoia', & refuse to watch it anymore. Ditto erstwhile ITV equivalent World In Action, or World In Crisis as I called it.

Just watched the trailer on twitter.

The video shows the "S&W 44 Russian" being loaded with cartridges.

I assume then this isn't an obsolete calibre then?

Therefore it is illegal as he has bought it into the country without a licence.

Their 'argument' is that the calibres are obsolete but can be made by the evil band of hand loaders who have specialist skills.

But once the ammo is made an offence occurs unless you have that ammo on your fac. And firing the gun makes it no longer a curio and needs to go on an FAC.

Enough laws. One man broke them and was prosecuted. We have enough laws.

It doesn't help that the 'expert' knob jockey from NABCO (or whatever they are called) lied to parliament and said all the components are available to buy without a license and can be sent mail order. WRONG!

It is however just another very common current cartridge slightly shortened and there lies the problem.

The other issue is if you are caught with an antique pistol as long as you haven’t got ammunition you are committing zero offences even if it’s in your pocket on the high street.

I saw the trailer at lunchtime and it looks like more scaremongering. If I can paraphrase one quote “look there’s a bullet mold and all the bits to make ammunition”.

To LEGALLY acquire a primer, you MUST have an FAC for the type of primer you intend to buy.

I've checked on a number of websites/dealers who sell components, and to a man/woman, they all state quite clearly that while you may ORDER them by email or phone, you must collect them face-to-face after they have seen your valid FAC.

So, to acquire them in any other way is a crime, already covered by the law.

So we have four points that we can mention/ complain about:
Illegal for convicted criminal to purchase section 58 firearm
Illegal for convicted crime nail to posses section 58 firearm
FAC needed to purchase powder
FAC needed to purchase primers

It will be interesting to see if these points are stated clearly
