    Scope repairs

If you need a scope repaired does it generally go to a specialist or returned to the maker.

Is there usually a price point were its worth doing or not.

Scope is out of warranty i think as its a BSA model

something inside is rattling about and doesnt sound good

Unless it's under guarantee/warranty or a very top end scope I'd forget it. There's not many people left who do scope repairs other than the manufacturers and either way it's expensive.

Very few specialists will do rifle scopes. More do binoculars and spotting/astronomical telescopes.

Base repair price is usually £40 and up, can be a fair bit more if expensive OEM spare parts are needed. Or just not possible if spares aren’t available.

The “BSA” scopes are budget Chinese ones (not being a snob, some are pretty good for their price). I imagine that spares are economically unobtainable, and that even if they were the cost of repair would equal or exceed the cost of a replacement in good working order.
