Epiphany...
For many years LuOrLin threw every sinew of his being into his quest to reach the standard required to be considered for the much coveted elite guard, heart and soul toiled.
He was convinced to this point the only barrier to fulfilling his quest was the basic nature of his bow, others could not understand, LuOrLin and his bowmanship were much admired by his family.
The ancient much worn family bow, hewn from the bough of a Yew tree which had stood behind the family home for centuries and had provided bows for generations lost, the bow was tensioned with the sinew and rawhide mix which was a secret passed from father to son within the family for generations forgotton.
His gifted bow was crafted from materials he had no concept of, deep lustrous metals all merged to form not only a thing of great beauty but also a purposeful efficiency - he simply had to believe and his place would be assured .
LuOrLin practiced every waking hour with his gods bow, his faith driving him....but deep down a realisation was dawning, he simply could not better the true nature of his family bow.
The day of reckoning arrived, the great elite guard competition, LuOrLin was summoned first to the feet of HalForToon, the great god laid his challenge, to shoot a single straight arrow and hit an apple sat on a rock almost a full corn fields distance.
LuOrLin had arrived with both his bows...which to use...
