I presume wiping over the metal after use for storage? For that, I have used all sorts from 3 in !, ACF 50, SAE30, Birchwood Casey Synthetic Gun Oil, all to good effect.....

    oil

If you do mean for a quick wipe over to take away finger marks etc any oil will do. If the gun is wet then its a different story.
I use an old, and I do mean old, bit of "T" shirt damp with 3in 1 it's orrible now but does the job.

I use Napier. It's got that VP90 corrosion inhibitor in it. Not a good lubricating oil but for oiling bluing it's perfect.

    Cheers
