    Dirty dusty pellets of old.

I've got a couple of half full tins of BSA/ Milbro Caledonian pellets in .22 that to be honest look past it.

Dusty and faded with a strange lead dust in the tin.

Can I clean them and with what ? or shall i just bin them ?

Sorry if its a daft Q.

If your thinking of binning them surly its got to worth trying to wash them in warm water with washing up liquid the drying them in paper towel then a quick lick with a hair dryer I remember reading then to spray them with polish "like mr sheen"? but cant remember if that was for springer's only? im sure there will be a member who will no more shortly ATB

Just plink & grin or practice finger / trigger control, why worry about them, just shoot them

I expect the dust is a lead oxide. If they are cleaned I guess there is less risk of it fouling up the barrel. Once tins of pellets are opened it happens.

I've braved the really nasty tin , I'd say water ingress has rusted the inside of the tin and also as you say lead oxide has taken hold.

The other tin isn't that bad.

They are about 40 years old after all.

No way would I feed them into a rifle like that so I've gone the hot soapy water route , that's made them at least shootable.
