    Crosman 2240 issue

I recently purchased a 2240 and things have been fine .
Today at the range , when I replaced the CO2 I pulled back the bolt to dry fire to pierce the capsule and next news the CO2 is leaking everywhere .
Any ideas ? Could it be the valve probe seal ?
Do I need to replace the probe or is the seal replaceable ?
Is it easy to do ?
    Many thanks .

It could be that, in which case you need to replace the whole valve stem. Tho it could be the seal on the front of the valve that the co2 capsule presses against, sometimes these just become dislodge and need popping back in, shine a torch down the co2 tube and see if it's distorted?

needs a new cos valve seal if it all leaks out as soon as pierced
if it comes out of barrel or breech with the probe to the rear it needs new stem

Did you put a drop of Pellgun Oil or similar oil on the tip of the CO2 bulb before putting it in? This has always been basic practice with the 2240 and similar CO2 guns, helping to make a good seal and maintain the softness of that seal rubber.

Yep all the CO2 capsules are lubed .
However , I bought the pistol 2nd hand so whether or not the previous owner did the same , I can't be sure of .

Did it just happen the once or every time now? Maybe you just didn’t tighten the capsule in enough?
