    Reloading in garage

The plan was to build my permanent reloading bench in a spare room but my wife tells me, correctly, that the big solid table I have in the garage would also be very suitable. If I did a clear out, there would also be plenty of room in the garage! The table is really sturdy and would be ideal but too big to bring into the house.

Does anyone else use a garage to reload in or should I keep with plan A and use a spare bedroom?

Looking forward to any comments and thanks in advance.

I made up a bench etc in the garage but it gets cold and damp in there and don't want to leave my reloading stuff out there to be honest, if I had the choice of a room in the house that's what I'd go for and I'm sure others will agree...

I now keep my gear in the house and reload in the kitchen...

I used to reload in the garage - absolutely fine apart from in the winter.

Since the kids have left I use a spare bedroom - much nicer in the Winter.

How do you heat it? Mine is attached to the house so it wouldn't be too difficult to insulate it to some extend although I'm being drawn to a nice comfy spare room....

Mine is also integral & insulated. Got a large space heater and got anti-condensation heaters in my storage lockers. Also got a good selection of thermal gear from working offshore for years.

How much reloading are you planning on doing?
If it's not a lot - say 50 rounds a week, then the garage will be fine, particularly if you choose to do them when it's relatively good weather.
Alternatively, if you're planning on doing a lot, and spending hours at a time in an ice cold garage, the spare room might be the better option.
Personally, I wouldn't consider the spare room option, it's part of my hobby and I don't mind if I have to "rough it a bit".

I'd say the garage is fine for things designed to be used outside, but to me reloading gear isn't.

Not use your ammo outside then??

There are garages & GARAGES...…………..My mate has his all insulated & carpeted with a wood burner heater. He does tend to pamper his motor bikes & his Morgan a wee bit though!

I think I might have fitted a dishwasher for him... was he an electrician and did work in the Morgan factory?

Most of us have non insulated garages, no heating etc...left my Wilson reloading gear out once and I was shocked when I went to use it again because it was left out in the cold..

I use my office/spare room to reload, I wouldn't consider doing it in the garage if there was another option open to me.

If you're garage is insulated, heated, carpeted etc, then I wouldn't really call it a garage and would be happy to use it for reloading.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

If your garage is part of your house then it should be fairly warm you could always get a oil filled heater or two to take any extra chill away I load in my workshop the backyard cover in its great to escape out side into my own world but I do store the powders in the house and only take the one Im loading with

Insulated shed with a small fan heater (not ointed at the bench) works fine for me, I don't store powder or primers in there though for security and it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

A garage will be absolutely fine!!!
    Thanks for looking

I have tried the cellar but it gets ready damp and cold in the winter, the loft also gets cold in the winter and you cant reload after a certain time in case you make too much noise and disturb the neighbours, so it has to be the spare room which happens to be the warmest room in the house and has a 37" tv on the wall to keep me company, powder and primers are in the wardrobe so everything is in reach.
