Have you tried using a Torx key the next size up and tapping it into the head with a hammer?

In the first instance try a similar sized torx bit, they can often get a grip in a worn hexagon socket recess.

    Removing Alan key

Hi I had the same problem and I just got some mitre bond (strong super glue)
Glued the Alan key in place until it set then removed without a problem!!

ha ha. i used car body filler. but i have been known to use hardened steel tools i adapted to make a slot in the hex and get it out with a screwdriver.
the only thing i can find wrong is the nut on the steering wheel.

If torx doesn't work last resort is an easy out. Always use a good quality set especially for small diameters.

Hi yes screw extractor's are good but you usually need to drill a hole into the screw head which can be a bit awkward into Allen screws as they are usually hardened. Good luck with the removal Graham.

I'm not sure I'm reading this post right because you ask about an Allen key "fitting" an Allen bolt head. I read nothing about a damaged head needing to be removed! Most replies are assuming you have a damaged head!

If you simply need to find an Allen key that fits an undamaged head, first check it's not Torx, then buy a GOOD quality set of metric and imperial Allen keys, and then see if any of those fit. If the head is not damaged, you may be finding nothing you currently have fit because the the key that 'would fit' is slightly rounded off (damaged).

If you do indeed have a damaged Allen key head (rounded off internally) then that is a different conversation!
