Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2018 - Round 9 Results

    Hi All

Another great day at Buxted, returning this time for Round 9 of the 2018 Sussex Interclub HFT and in some splendid autumn weather, with sunshine and virtually no wind. After the wind and rain at Cambridge just a week ago, it felt more like a return to summer

Challenging course set out by Simmo and crew, with loads of potential range traps including what (I guess) were some small and large targets of the same design in adjacent lanes, but through narrow gaps in trees which meant they would appear to be at the same distance (WRONG!).

The course caught out many, with the notable exceptions of Bob P scoring a 55 with his boinger, Cargs (returning to PCP) but most obviously to Kev Hills submitting an amazing clearance and earning him one of the SIHFT special badges; I’ve not had to dig those out of the bucket for a long time. Very well done Sir

Here’s the full table of results and I will follow this shortly with the individual 2018 league tables. Kev has strengthened his lead in the Open Class, but not quite finished off the opposition. If my maths is right, Kev can still (just) be caught.

Here is the full set of today’s results …..

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss. BBS PM or email or Facebook message all welcome.

The Team Table now looks like this :

    Club Round 9 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 282 106
    Oaks 272 100
    Maldon 261 63
    Meon Valley 251 85
    Ford 236 73
    Horsham 224 70
    Swallows 222 65
    Iden Fern 220 53

Horsham and Iden Fern were the only two clubs fielding just below the required 5 team members today, each drawing 1 lucky-dip card. There will have to be some serious nobbling on the part of Mile Oak if they want to make up the now 6 point gap between them and Buxted at our final round at Horsham.

Prize drawer winners today were :
    • Sarah Vickers who won the £31 cash prize, and
    • Gary Morrison who walked off with today’s Air Arms goody bag

No nationals or other ‘major’ comps on next week and the only event in Sussex next Sunday is an open comp at Mile Oak. All welcome to attend.

Otherwise, we wish you well until we meet at Horsham for our final (Round 10) SIHFT at Horsham on Sunday the 14th October. Metcheck’s current prediction say it may be damp and with only a waft of breeze.

    Exclamation bit of an oversight

omitted to mention that, in addition to the single clear-round badge awarded today, we had three more people achieving the magic 5 Golds to earn their SIHFT Platinum

    Abi Maw

    Bob Pattenden

    and

    Graeme Cargan

Well done you three . Don't forget to ask for them at Horsham on the 14th.

Same goes for a host of other badge winners from today's round - you can always buy them at subsequent round; just ask and, unless you're a Junior or Primary Class entrant, jangle a couple of £1 coins in my directions.
