    Ex army charcoal suits.

Some time ago you could get ex army charcoal suits in dpm & green, for chemical / gas attacks I think they were designed for. Sealed in tough plastic bags. What were they called, NBC suits ??????? I'm clearing out some stuff & found a few I forgot I had, I need to know how to describe them in adverts.

    NBC suits.

Whatever you are wearing underneath them turns black from the charcoal.

But at least the ruskies can't get you.

I remember being told you could wash the charcoal out of them and it would leave you with a good jacket. Never had mine long before it was stolen I never got the chance to try the washing the charcoal out of it.

NBC standing for Nuclear Biological Chemical.
Never want to wear those things again. Can remember after a week or so on exercise wearing the stuff your skin hair amd clothing beneath used to get engrained in charcoal.

Years ago used to see young lads walking around town wearing the jackets thinking they were mugs because of the charcoal residue which would be rubbing into their clothing and skin.

    Regards

I planned to let mine soak in a tub of hot water and leave it to dissolve then repeat until it was all gone.

I wore mine fishing and fell in the river. Made a right mess if I remember right of my clothing.

I took it off and left it hanging on a tree near a fire we built and some that passed by stole it.

It's olive so not very exciting size 180/100. Next question is do I chuck it in the dustbin or clothes recycle bin to go for rags.

Ah man I still have mine I bought it in the late 90's from some gents training in Botswana.
Brilliant as a winter suit in the bush. After the many, many washes required to get that bloody charcoal out I sewed an old tracksuit into the longs. I still use it here for working on the car and such outside in winter.
