Other than the great KT has anyone built a decent springer from scratch?

I have seen Ken’s stainless HW design guns and have always fancied building myself a stainless steel HW80 style rifle with some improvements.

The 80 is a nice starting point as most improvements have been tried and the good known mods can be designed in at the start, the trigger unit can be probably the only borrowed bit from a production gun with the rest including the stock and checkering being an interesting engineering exercise for the winter evenings?

Has anyone ever done something like this other than this chap in the states?

When V-Mach had the Mach3 type rifle as a article in the airgunner magazine, I asked Steve if he was planning a b/barrel version and he said he had one on the drawing board.I would definitely put my name down for one if it came a reality..

    This is weird......
Is making a gun along HW80s lines a common ambition because I have certainly day dreamed about it.
Only I envisaged a 10-15% upscaled version just to see what it could do. (Never going to happen)
So then I thought about a downscaled 80 ment to run at 11.5ftlb.
I would love to have ago at making my own Spring gun.
I've got the book "modern pneumatic airgun" but H M Buckly somewhere but a homemade pcp filled me with dred
But a springer would be awesome.
    I hope you do it
I'm glad it's not just me that has weird airgun thoughts
    Good deals with:
Dunn220, Leon, Bullcelt, stink£r, u.k.neil, supersharpshoot, william and airgun god, GEORGEY, telgun, Simon P and stubbs4612, Wellhouse0, harpo

John Whiscombe used to have a couple of shooting buds back in the day. They both made their own springers, one being fundamentally a side lever, sliding cylinder version of the FWB Sport.

If successful, would there then be a desire to produce and sell them commercially? I think the experts from this forum could come up with something quite superlative but only if they could all agree!
