    The Airgun Bug Revisited.......

Well, not that I ever lost the "thing" for airguns, but 2018 has seen me "rejuvenate" my interest in them!

I've managed to pick up a FAS604 and I've also got a mint .177 Airsporter

And I think I'm just about to snag a 1/2 decent FWB 127 Sport.

However the question comes upas to what would really like now and the answer is something I feel is not available of the shelf and it would be this:

A Weirauch HW97 in stainless .20 cal with a Summer Laminate stock - so if I wanted to aquire such a thing, who do you think might be able to provide such a combination for me?

Similarly - whilst I'm steadily getting there with some favourites from the 1980's what other miracles would you point me to look at from the current Era and why?

    Thanks
If it has a trigger, I'm gonna enjoy it!

Im with you on the Summer laminate, have one added to my HW77. Mine came form Hull cartridge at the game fair they were selling off stocks which had minor imperfections.
As for what you should buy - anything that takes the fancy, but a few ideas.
    HW77 - 1980s icon.
HW80 - pretty much as above.
    Webley Vulcan, Tracker, Omega.
    BSA - Mercury S.
    Sharo Innova/Ace.
    Sussex armoury Jackal.
There will be a lot of others but these spring to mind as guns I wanted back then and since have had the opportunity to own.

Great to keep feeding that bug, Mr English.

I think for many of us, as highlighted above, we'll chase airguns of either personal nostalgic value or guns that you couldn't afford when younger but dreamed of owning back then, like my purchase of a FWB300S a few years ago.

New stuff........Walther LGV and FWB Sport at some point.

And although not as well-engineered or having the finesse of any of the guns I have, the idea of a Tracker has always niggled away at me for its sporting lines and dimensions. If I picture in my mind a scene of stalking through a woodland shoot, it's always a rifle along the lines of the Tracker that I imagine there. And then there are those lovely Air Arms sidelevers, especially the Khamsin, Camargue, Bora and Woodsman.

Thanks Tony for that mental picture of the Tracker, I have a deluxe model in need of some work which I will be sure to photograph in that situation when I write it up.

    Many thanks.....

For the REplies - would still like some guidance on this though:

    Any ideas gratefully appreciated?

HW will let you special order .20” (and in some rifles maybe .25”) via a dealer at a cost (£70?).

HW will sell dealers non-standard combinations of barrel length, calibre, finish and stock, but only if the dealer buys something like 25-30 of them. Most general dealers won’t take that risk. Some specialists like SFS do, occasionally - for example their recent run of .25” HW99Ses.

HW and spares dealers (eg Chambers) will sell you a replacement stock. Prices range from 140 (synth) 200 (regular 77 laminate) and 300 or so for the wood thumbhole. I do not know if anyone can provide the summer laminate available as a spare part. You can also keep an eye on E Thing and similar sales sites.

Another aftermarket stock option would be from Custom Stock of Sheffield, who will sell you quite a nice walnut one for not much more money than the factory beech replacement.

The expensive option would be to order the action/calibre you want in the wrong stock, and another gun with the stock you want in the wrong finish and calibre, swap the stocks, and sell the gun that isn’t the one you wanted, at a loss.
