Slide-action CO2 Carbine Umarex RP5

I had the RP5 pistol in .177 for Christmas.
No prizes for guessing who bought it.

Despite the fact that it was clearly designed by a Committee it works well and I like it.

The mags are different but dont take much getting used to.

The pistol is powerful and has a good shot count.
It handles better than it looks and seems well built.

Havent shot it at the range yet but reviews show accuracy good.

The carbine doesnt have full open sights.
It cant be shot as a pistol - does around 10 ft lbs.
I think it will bring the best out of the pump action, but its not a rapid fire machine just a different way of cocking.

However having shot my .177 pistol at the range I am very impressed with it.
Good power,plenty of shots and accuracy good on 10m paper and 20m cans.
Tuesday this week so cool but not cold as today.

The pump cocking is actually rather nice.
I prefer it to the HW 44 side lever.

Its not quite as good as the 44 but still very good value at £250 ish.
Best buy for me for a while despite its looks!

Looks like fun.
I find it odd that they didn't go with the existing eight shot Umarex magazines/clips though.
Maybe The Accountants shouted louder than The Engineers at the design stage.

I'm a bit dubious about those chrono readings in the video, although I haven't seen anything reliable to suggest a rating of 10 ft/lbs on the carbine, just the Umarex quoted figure of up to 11j (approx 8 ft/lb). I wonder if the guy has got a German rated gun or pistol version mis-fitted with an anti tamper stock? A top rate of 4 ft/lb seems way off.

I'm struggling to find some decent chrono figures in the UK, but Woodys of Wembley list the .177 pistol as putting out 574FPS (5ft/lb-ish with a 7g pellet) and the .22 carbine 492FPS (roughly 7.7 or so using a 14.5g pellet). Have you chronoed your pistol by any chance?

Chrono readings at B.A.R were 5.5 ft lb average in .22 for a UK spec carbine, as usual they drop off with rapid fire, a pity but it's still a fun gun... I wish the manufacturers would be a little more honest with their spec

Ive had a good look/pause at the airgungear review.
There is no German F mark on the test gun so it is a UK spec model and should be doing 160 ms according to Umarex.
Thats 524.934 fps.

My pistol manual does indicate that flathead pellets with a maximum length of 9mm (22) should be used.

I should add that I am pleased with the power and performance of my .177 pistol but no chrono as yet.
